„The summer school offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for anyone who’s interested in European matters. Being part of a crew, sailing between two borders, gazing upon the beautiful horizon while dicussing Europe is simply an extraordinary experience. It truly enables you to reflect on our European society and values.“
Michelle Lindhardt
My name is Michelle, I am 25 years old, and I was very fortunate to participate in the summer school “Utopia Europe” by the Farmont Foundation in the summer of 2019. I am originally from Denmark, but I am currently living in the Netherlands as I am doing an international psychology degree. I have a long background from the Danish military where I have specialized in psychological operations, military intelligence and medical care. In addition, I have also lived in Greece for a period where I have volunteered for an NGO working with refugees. I am very passionate about European matters, and especially about the current refugee crisis in Europe. I am currently doing my psychology degree in order to aid trauma victims (e.g. refugees) with their mental traumas and create more awareness of mental health in such settings. I dream of making a difference, and I hope that I will be able to do so in my future work as a psychologist. I personally believe that you can do anything you set your mind to as long as you work hard and believe in yourself.
My participation in the summer school was one of the best experiences I have had in my life, and I will always be eternally grateful for having had such an incredible opportunity.
