My name is Marta and I come from Lithuania. At the time of the sailing trip, I was still a student at the University of Warwick in the UK, studying the bachelor’s degree programme “Economics, Psychology, and Philosophy”. My core academic interests are the ethics and sociology of (information) technology, especially when it comes to AI and algorithms. Thus my keynote speech during the trip was titled “Polarisation: When the Algorithmic Selves (Do Not) Meet Reality.” Nowadays, I am exploring the creative side of things as a junior film and theatre producer back in Lithuania.

“The Farmont sailing trip was truly one of the most memorable and meaningful experiences of my life. From the rhythm of communal living to the gentle sway of the boat under the scorching sun and refreshing wind, every moment felt unreal in the best way. The days were filled with island explorations, coastal swims, and deeply intellectual, stimulating conversations. When I applied, it sounded too good to be true — and now that I’m back home, it still does. And yet, it was real!”
