My name is Halina Jagielska, I was born in 2001 and I am from Krakow, Poland. I am a law student, particularly interested in environmental and energy law. I have participated in acts of civic participation since 2015, taking part in strikes in the protection of human rights and the rule of law in Poland. The Russian attack on Ukraine was a turning point in my activist life – I recently connected with a Polish climate and anti-war initiative called Wschod, with whom I have cooperated ever since. I am also a campaigner and educator about civic rights in environmental procedures in Young Friends of Earth Europe. My personal mission is to show people that there are several and efficient ways of affecting the course of climate policies and everyone is welcomed to find their place in the movement in accordance with their personal capacities. Currently I’m also working on raising the awarness on energy poverty of youth at EU Commission’ s level.
“The whole Summer School experience still seems like a dream to me. The sailing experience, beauty of Greek islands and the sea were not however the biggest wonder of this trip. It was precisely – the people. The way we became a pack of friends at the end of the trip, coming from so different backgrounds initially, was truly marvellous. I really think every young person should be able to have such an uniting experience to then be able to really experience what does it mean to be together apart.”
