Day 5: Nisyros

After a comparably late start to the day, we set off to be greeted by the exhilarating view of the island’s volcano. Thankfully Hephaistos did not unleash his fire and fury upon us, and we were able to proceed unharmed. 

To escape the heat, we found some shade in a village cafe to start our daily discussion round. Today’s governing theme was the future of European fiscal and monetary integration, the future of the Euro and how both underlie the concept of a European identity. Do you believe that thinking beyond national economic borders is needed to avoid the next pizza- or pita-crisis?

Having ended the day with some sad, thoughtful greek live music, we now look forward to another day of the breathtaking views on the seas.
